A teenager has become the latest road fatality after he lost control of the motorcar he was driving and slammed into a utility pole at Three Friends Public Road, Essequibo Coast, on Thursday evening.
Dead is 19-year-old Chandi Dyal, also called “Vickash”, of Lot H Lima, Essequibo Coast.
Based on reports received, the young man was driving a motorcar bearing registration plates PTT 5016 at a fast rate and lost control while negotiating a turn. The car, according to reports, toppled several times before crashing into a utility pole in the area. The vehicle is reportedly owned by Eon Goocharran.
The teen was picked up in an unconscious state and taken to the Suddie Public Hospital where he was placed in the Intensive Care Unit but succumbed soon afterwards.
Reports are the young man sustained internal injuries. The teen was an active member of the youth arm (the Leo Club) of the Essequibo Lion’s Club and was the only son for his mother.
At the time of his demise, the teen was managing the family’s business. His father died several years ago in a similar manner. Police have launched an investigation into the accident.
