[www.inewsguyana.com] – During investigations into two reports of burglary committed on homes at Bush Lot, Essequibo Coast, the police arrested a suspect at Reliance, Essequibo Coast on Sunday November 29, 2015.
According to a police report, the man was also a suspect in the murder of 73 – year – old Suroojpattie Ramlakhan known as ‘Auntie Carmen,’ which occurred at her home at Richmond Hill, Essequibo Coast, on February 20, 2015.
He was released after arrest and questioning at that time; however according to a police report, during intense questioning following his arrest yesterday, he confessed to both burglaries and the murder of the elderly woman.
He is in police custody and charges will be made shortly. iNews had reported that the woman’s body was found on the floor of her bedroom by her neighbours.
According to reports, the pensioner lived alone and was only found after neighbours tried to alert her about a snake in her yard. Neighbours told iNews that the front door of her house was locked but the back door was left ajar.
iNews understands that a few of them decided to venture inside when the woman’s nude body was discovered. An alarm was raised and the police were informed.
Reports indicate that her body bore marks of violence on the neck and vagina, while investigators reportedly found several condoms at the scene.
