Essequibo man charged with killing wife

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Twenty – eight – year old Vishnu Narine appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scare at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court on December 10, charged with the indictable offense of murder.

Narine of 164 Onderneeming Sand Pit, Essequibo Coast, was not required to plead to the murder charge, which alleged that on November 28 at Paradise, he murdered his wife, 23 – year – old Malanie Narine at their home.

Narine was hospitalised under guard at the Suddie Public Hospital after slitting his throat, shortly after killing his wife. The court heard that he stabbed the woman several times about her body.

The police said that he consumed alcohol on a regular basis and would physically abuse his wife. Bail was refused by Magistrate Scarce and Narine was remanded to prison until January 8, 2016 when the preliminary inquiry into the charge is expected to commence.

iNews had reported that the mother of one was stabbed several times in her face, while Narine slit her neck on a bed in the lower flat of their house. Her naked body was discovered on the bed.

The couple lived together for eight years at Red village, Onderneeming before moving to Paradise Village two months ago. Family members of the woman recalled that the she suffered terribly at the hands of her husband, whom they described to be very jealous.
