A security guard narrowly escaped being seriously injured or even killed on Sunday evening after three Guyana Power and Light (GPL) electrical poles came crashing down in the vicinity of Tutorial High School on Woolford Avenue in Georgetown.
According to reports a loud explosion was heard around 6:00 hrs yesterday afternoon when it was observed that one of the post which bears a transformer fell on the roof of the school narrowly missing the hut that housed the security guard.
All three lamp poles damaged sections of the school fence and a part of the school’s roof. They were no reported casualties, however power to the area was cut due to the incident.
Engineers from GPL visited the area but left to return with better equipment to handle the job.
