[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Education Ministry today (Friday, March 28) launched a revised version of their Primary Science Easy Path Series “Science Around Us” for students in Grades 1-6.
These books which were written by a team of local science educators are already available to the students in the primary schools across the country.
Speaking at the launching ceremony at the National Centre for Educational Resource Development (NCERD), Education Minister, Priya Manickchand explained that a gap analysis was done to ascertain if the content in the books is reflective of what is in the curriculum guide.
Manickchand noted that the revised edition of the Science text books is now reflective of the current reality of Guyana and the world over.
She informed that her ministry is currently in the process of writing their own readers for Grades 1-6 called “Atlantic Readers” which she hopes will be introduced by September.
Meanwhile, Assistant Chief Education Officer for the Primary level, Marcelle Hutson said that the genesis of the revision came out of a meeting that the Minister had with senior officers of the ministry to improve on the existing product.
The revised text books can be downloaded for free at www.education.gov.gy and the Ministry is currently working to provide the books in hard copy to the private schools at a cost price.
