[www.inewsguyana.com] – Twenty – two – year-old Rafeek Hosen, a labourer of East La Penitence, Housing Scheme, Georgetown, was today remanded to prison by Magistrate Judy Latchman for the offence of armed robbery.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that December 25, 2013, while being armed with a gun, he robbed Anaira Jones Sealey, of one Blackberry Torch cellular phone and cash, together valued $895,000.
The father of one was represented by Attorney – at – Law, Clyde Forde, who stated that his client was only arrested on Sunday night [August 24] during a flawed identification parade.
However, Police Prosecutor Joel Ricknauth successfully objected to bail on the grounds that an alleged weapon was used in the commission of the offence and the fingerprint found on the scene matched with the defendant.
The Prosecutor’s objection was upheld and the matter was put off to September 16.
