Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand in her address to the hundreds of parents said the administration has been able to make this initiative possible because the country is doing well overall.
The Minister however, noted that she is well aware that there is a lot more to be done and they have recognised that parents could always use any form of assistance.
She however, called on parents to be aware of those who are critical of any developmental projects but has no solutions.
Already thousands of parents across the country have benefitted from the ‘Because we Care’ initiative. In the meantime distribution is still ongoing in several communities in Region Four and central Georgetown.

Not to appear negative; There is positive side to this action. However, I am wondering why it took so long for the government to do something like this, I am of the belief it’s part of the campaigning strategy being used. If this is true, people need to understand, electing an individual because he/she has done something good nearing an election, should never be an influence. If the individual had any interest in your WELFARE, they could have, should have long before any campaign or election, done enough “good work” to create a “record”; thus allowing individuals to judge them, based on their body of work, and not speeches, with a few well-placed words. “It is not enough, to do one thing only one time, and call it a good thing, when doing good, a trail will automatically follow.”
