[www.inewsguyana.com] – Naresh Alli of Lot Durban Street Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown, was remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, after he pleaded not guilty to the offence of simple larceny.
It is alleged that on December 2 at Robb Street, Georgetown, he stole one car mirror valued $30,000, property of Anthony Zales.
Police Prosecutor Bharat Mangru told the Court that on the day in question around 19: 30 hrs the victim parked his motorcar PRR 1177 on Water Street, Georgetown, and proceeded to his office for a meeting.
The Court heard that the accused was caught stealing the mirror and was apprehended by public spirited citizens.
According to the accused, he saw something glittering on the road and was about to pick it up when another man said, “Hey drop the thing”. Alli claimed that he had no intention of stealing the mirror. He also said he was lashed to his head with a gun by the complainant.
Bail was refused and the matter stands adjourned until December 9.
