[www.inewsguyana.com] – Thirty – one – year old Jamel Lewis of Lot 77 Durban Street Lodge is lucky to be alive after three masked men showed up at his house and opened fire at him at approximately 04:30 hrs on Wednesday, July 08.
iNews has been informed that Lewis, who lives in the lower flat of the home which he shares with other relatives, was awoken to a strange sound. Upon investigating, he saw the men approaching.
When the gunmen spotted Lewis, they opened fire at him, casing him to run through the back entrance of the house and into the street, where he encountered a police patrol that rescued and took him to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The man was shot once to the back and hip while the gunmen escaped. When police questioned the relatives at the house, they related that all they heard was gunshots and when they looked out, they did not see anything.
Lewis, who is known to the police, is unemployed and has been in police custody before. Commander of ‘A’ Division, Clifton Hicken confirmed the incident and told iNews that it is under investigation as no one has been arrested as yet.
