[www.inewsguyana.com] – Two men appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on Thursday, November 05, 2015 charged with the capital offense of murder.
It is alleged that 25 – year – old Levi Thomas of Mahdia and 28 – year-old Gregory France of Onderneeming, Essequibo Islands, murdered Sheldon Rodrigues.
Both Levi Thomas and Gregory France were not allowed to plea to the indictable charge. They were remanded to prison and are scheduled to make their next court appearance at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on November 27.
iNews had reported that the two men reportedly confessed to the murder of 36 – year – old Rodrigues, a gold miner, who was killed on November 02, 2015.
A police report confirmed that detectives in ‘F’ Division are currently wrapping up their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Rodrigues, a male Amerindian of Onderneeming Village, Essequibo Coast, which occurred about 02:15 hrs at Falls Top, Arimu, Cuyuni River.
iNews was reliably informed that Rodrigues and the men were involved in a drinking spree, when an argument ensued and he was stabbed to death.
