[www.inewsguyana.com] – 19-year-old Nandeswar Persaud of Kitty, Georgetown and 33- year-old Cordel Bourne of E’ Field Sophia, appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates Court on Thursday (September 26) to answer to charges of causing death by dangerous driving.
Both men pleaded not guilty to the charge which detailed that on September 17 at Brickdam, Georgetown, both men drove in a dangerous manner and collided.
Bourne was at the time heading east along Brickdam driving a route 48 minibus while Persaud was driving a car (PNN 4475) that was heading south along Brummell Place. The collision resulted in the death the conductor of the minibus Gavin De Ally, age 22.
According to media reports the bus was both overloaded and speeding at the time at the time of the accident. De Ally was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Magistrate, after hearing the case refused bail and both men were remanded to prison until October 07.
