[www.inewsguyana.com] – Two men charged with attempting to commit a felony were placed $100,000 bail each by Magistrate Fabayo Azore.
Fizal Mohamed, a 32-year-old mechanic of East Ruimveldt, and 17-year-old labourer, Michael Eastman of Meadow Brook, both pleaded not guilty to the offence which alleged that on July 3 at Meadowbrook, Georgetown, they attempted to steal a shaft from motor truck GEE 8125 valued $70,000, property of Todd Alphonso Merriman.
The duo complained that they were badly beaten by the Police. The men stated that they do not know the names of the ranks but can recognize them if they see them again.
However, Police Prosecutor Adduni Innis told the Court that the men were not beaten by the police as they alleged, instead they were beaten by public spirited citizens. They will make their next Court appearance before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on July 8.
