Two men on Friday appeared before Magistrate Annette Singh at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts charged with assaulting a police constable and several other offences.
Syndall Bourne, a farmer of 27 Unity, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara and Nigel Ishmael of Robb Street, Georgetown, both stood before the Court to answer to the charges which alleged that on February 23, within the vicinity of Sheriff and Duncan Streets they assaulted a police constable, behaved disorderly and resisted arrest.
They both pleaded not guilty to the charges and were placed on $5000 bail for each charge.
It was also alleged that on the same day Syndall had in his possession five grams of cannabis.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was placed on $10,000 bail.
The matter was adjourned to March 22.
