[www.inewsguyana.com] – A businessman was shot on Saturday June 20, when two armed men barged into his establishment and demanded that he hand over cash that he had in the building.
According to a statement from the Guyana Police Force, the robbery took place just after 10:00hrs on Saturday morning.
Police say, two men, one of whom, was armed with a handgun, entered an Internet Café and Western Union Outlet at Duncan Street, Georgetown, and held up the proprietor Gordon Nestor and a staff member.
The men took away over $400,000 and escaped in a waiting motor car but not before shooting Nestor to his left foot.
The 52-year-old proprietor has been admitted to hospital and police investigations are in progress.

These shootings have become a daily occurrence in Guyana. It is quite disturbing and the Police don’t seem to have an immediate solution to end this scourge.
