[www.inewsguyana.com] – It was total chaos on Sunday evening (April 05) when a farmer decided to burn his house down and attempted to kill his wife at Phase One (last street), Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo.
The quiet evening turned disastrous for Christine Isbran, whose husband, Bo Isbran came home drunk and an argument between the two soon followed. According to eyewitnesses, the drunken man pulled a cutlass and attempted to slit his wife’s throat but fortunately, her eldest son stepped in and rescued her.
Shortly after, the farmer locked himself inside the house, under the pretext that he was going to sleep, while his wife and others sat outside. They soon saw smoke emanating from the flat concrete building and Bo walking out with a gun in his hand.
According to reports, he hid the gun under some grass and sat on top of it. Neighbours reported that he uses the weapon for hunting. The house was destroyed and only some items were saved while firefighters arrived shortly after.
When iNews arrived at the scene, Bo was in the back of a police vehicle, hurling expletives at those gathered, while his inconsolable wife was taken away from the scene by neighbours.
They have two children who live a short distance away, while Christine’s nephew was sharing the now destroyed house with them.
Neigbours revealed that the two are known to be involved in arguments but it never escalated to such destruction.
