[www.inewsguyana.com] – An Engineer on Thursday, December 03 had his driver’s license suspended after he was charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI).
Leroy Bajnauth, 26, of 180 Kuru Kuru, Linden- Soesdyke Highway pleaded guilty to the charge, which stated that on December 02 at Mckenzie, Linden he drove motor vehicle PGG 8460 while his breath alcohol level was at 169 micrograms, which exceeds the legal limit.
Prosecutor Deniro Jones stated that on the day in question at about 19:30 hrs, the defendant was driving the motor vehicle, proceeding east along Sir David Rose Avenue when Police on patrol saw him driving in a zigzag manner. They stopped the vehicle and the defendant staggered out, apparently under the influence of alcohol.
He was taken to the Mckenzie Police Station where two breathalyzer tests were conducted. His breath alcohol level was tested at 169 micrograms and 134 micrograms, whereas the legal limit is 35 micrograms.
“I am very sorry, it will not happen again,” the accused told the Magistrate. The Magistrate prohibited him from being in possession of a driver’s license for a period of 12 months.
The government of guyana need to overhaul all the laws when it comes to operate a motor vehicle .i can be an asset in helping to make guyana a safer place to drive .

Finally we are getting somewhere, they need to suspend more persons drivers license. Those who drive in a reckless manner with no regard for other road users. (Mini bus and taxi drivers especially) they are always cutting in front of persons.
