One man escaped with minor injuries today after the vehicle he was driving swerved off of the Goed Fortuin, West Bank Demerara (WBD) roadway and plunged into the nearby trench.
Reports are that around 12:00hrs, the person driving the Spacio motorcar, in an attempt to avoid a collision with a pedal cyclist, had no choice but to swerve his car in the direction of the trench.
The road which was wet and slippery due to rainfall earlier played a part in the car ending up into the trench where the vehicle was partially submerged.
However, public spirited persons ran to assist the driver who was eventually pulled out of the vehicle.
INews was told that the driver was not seriously injured and that the pedal cyclist had continued his journey without rendering any assistance.
Investigations are ongoing into the matter.
