[www.inewsguyana.com] – Dr. Roger Luncheon has returned to his post of Head of the Presidential Secretariat and Secretary to the Cabinet following just over two months of absence due to illness.
Dr. Luncheon, who chaired a post Cabinet media briefing on Thursday morning (April, 17) laughed at while at the same time quelling rumors which had circulated claiming he had died.
He disclosed that he is still convalescing from the effects of malignant in his gastro – intestinal track which had spread to his lungs.
The disease is cancerous and its tumors usually invade and destroy nearby tissue and spread to other parts of the body.
The Cabinet Secretary explained that it was his decision to stay away from work and not do anything about his illness. He explained that he was still convalescing and his contribution to the Office of the President has been curtailed.
He noted that he was impressed with the reception he received while at home and on his return back to work, adding that his commitment to serving Guyana remains absolute.
“My commitment is beyond doubt; I love this country and I believe there are more people that love Luncheon than hate him,” the Cabinet Secretary told reporters.
He recalled his illness in 2012 which caused him to be away from his desk for almost three months and jokingly said “this is my second chance with death; I don’t believe I’m a gambler but they say three times and you’re out.”
In this regard, Dr Luncheon made public that the administration is involved in the recreation of capacity to replace him when the time arrives.
