Police are investigating an alleged robbery under arms committed on a 47-year-old man along Agricola public road during the wee hours of Friday morning.
The victim has been identified as Rudolph Primo, an Inspector attached to the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) who resides at Diamond, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
Based on information received, the incident occurred at about 00:20hrs.
INews was told that Primo boarded a route 42 mini-bus from Diamond public road, enroute to Georgetown. While the vehicle was heading north along the Eccles, East Bank Demerara public road, two ‘passengers’ reportedly requested to be dropped off at the “Agricola Road Head” and according to Primo, when the bus stopped, he had the exit to allow the two men to get off.
However, it was that short period where all three of the men were outside of the bus that one of the bandits choked the victim from behind, while his accomplice whipped out a gun from his pants waist and pointed it at the victim.
The perpetrators then proceeded to relieve the 47-year-old man of his Blu mobile phone –valued at $20,000- and $50,000 in cash before making good their escape east into Agricola, on foot.
