[www.inewsguyana.com] – Narsingh Deonarine is on a comeback trail helping the Guyana Jaguars to 230-5 after the first day of the West Indies Cricket Board’s (WICB) Professional Cricket League Franchise Four-day tournament against the Leeward Islands at the Guyana National Stadium on Friday, November 14.
Deonarine was in fine knick, striking eight fours in his unbeaten 73 to help Guyana reach a respectable total with Christopher Barnwell remaining not out on 24 after the first day’s play.
Deonarine and Shivnarine Chanderpaul and an 83 run fourth wicket stand that glued the innings back together. Chanderpaul made 45 runs off 106 balls during the period.
Bowling for the visitors saw former West Indies pacer Gavin Tonge taking 2-39 while Orlando Peters had 1-31 and Jacques Taylor 1-53.
Play will continue in the four day match over the next couple of days with Guyana, aiming to start the tournament on the right note with a win against the Leeward Islands.
