[www.inewsguyana.com] – Twenty – nine – year – old Sudesh Lakeram was today charged with the murder of his 23 – year – old ex – girlfriend, Rajkumarie Persaud, whom he allegedly stabbed to death on Sunday, September 21 at Hague, West Coast Demerara.
A post mortem performed on the body revealed that the mother of one died from hemorrhage due to incised wounds.
Lakeram, known as ‘Amit’ appeared at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Ann McLennan and was represented by Attorney – at – law, Hukumchand.
Following a request by the defence lawyer, Magistrate Ann McLennan ordered that the accused undergo a psychological evaluation. He was remanded to prison until October 15, when he will make his next Court appearance.
Lakeram, a Dental Technician, was handed over to the police by his employer after he showed up at the businessman’s place in Peter’s Hall, East Bank Demrara where he allegedly confessed to killing the woman.
Relatives told iNews that the two shared a relationship for about eight months before separating and on Saturday the man returned to the woman’s Hague home to beg for a second chance.
iNews understands that the couple had a misunderstanding on the day in question, which led to the suspect stabbing the woman several times about her body in her one bedroom apartment, below her aunt’s house.
