A partially decomposed body of an Amerindian woman was discovered along a dam at New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, West Bank Demerara (WBD) on Tuesday last.
Today (Thursday), the body was identified as 49-year-old Patricia Ronold of Lot 5 Crane Housing Scheme, WBD.
The identification was made by Ronold’s older sister, with whom she resided with.
Based on information received, on Tuesday last, at around 10:55hrs, an unknown caller contacted the Vreed-En-Hoop Police Station and reported that the woman’s body was seen lying on a dam at New Road.
The lifeless body was clad in a yellow top and a pair of blue long pants, facing down. An Identification card with the name “Patricia Ronold” was found lying next to her. Police also noted that no marks of violence were found on her body.
Ronold’s sister told police that her sibling left home on June 11 2017, at around 09:00hrs to go to Georgetown but never returned home.
Ronold has reportedly been a psychotic patient for over 10 years.
A post mortem examination is expected to be conducted on the body on Friday. Investigations are ongoing. (Ramona Luthi)
