The partly decomposed body of 76-year-old Bharrat Mandroo of Lot 31 Sheet Anchor, East Canje, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne), was on Sunday discovered in his home.
The discovery was made by his niece Omwatie, who lives in the upper flat of the building.
According to the woman, the man was last seen alive on Wednesday, but after not seeing him since, she thought something was amiss.
However, on Sunday, a stench was emanating from the lower flat, thus forcing her to investigate. As she gained entry into the man’s apartment, she found him lying on this bed in a nude state. She immediately raised an alarm and the police were contacted.
The woman told investigators that the man suffered from several medical complications.
The body was examined but there were no marks of violence. It was escorted to Baileys Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem.
