Delhi Daredevils v Rising Pune Supergiant, IPL 2017, Delhi
For only the fourth time in as many seasons, an IPL captain chose to bat at the Feroz Shah Kotla. Delhi Daredevils’ Zaheer Khan took the decision in the hope that a dry and cracked pitch might offer some turn in the second innings. To exploit that, they brought Shahbaz Nadeem back and were happy to go into the match with only three overseas players. Seam-bowling allrounder Carlos Brathwaite was left on the bench.
Rising Pune Supergiant, who need a win to bolster their claim for a top-two finish, were without their most successful bowler in the tournament. Imran Tahir has left to join the South Africa squad ahead of their one-day series against England, and his place was taken by Adam Zampa, who has not played a match for a month.
Delhi Daredevils: 1 Sanju Samson, 2 Karun Nair, 3 Shreyas Iyer, 4 Rishabh Pant (wk), 5 Marlon Samuels, 6 Corey Anderson, 7 Pat Cummins, 8 Mohammed Shami, 9 Shahbaz Nadeem, 10 Amit Mishra, 11 Zaheer Khan (capt)
