[www.inewsguyana.com] – Trinidad based Guyanese, Lionel D’Andrade claimed the men’s 5k TTARP (Trinidad and Tobago Association for Responsible Persons) crown on Saturday in Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain.
D’Andrade finished the event and stopped the clock at 15 minutes 34 seconds while Trinidadians, Sherwyn Stapleton was second in 15 minutes 50 seconds and Shane Barran was third in 16 minutes and four seconds.
Trinidad’s Tonya Nero was the first female finisher in 18 minutes 17 seconds.
“I feel good with my time. Today I tried to run under sixteen. But I didn’t get to do a proper warm-up, because I arrived late for the race. After Curtis Cox (T&T) won the Pale Seco 6K two weeks ago, I felt I needed to come back stronger and I did that, so I am still please with my time; even though it was also very humid,” D’Andrade stated.
The next race for the lanky distance athlete will be the NALIS 6.5K scheduled for November 8.
