[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Police ‘D’ Division [West Demerara/East Bank Essequibo] launched a youth club in the troubled area of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo on Saturday, January 10.

Tuschen has been labeled as one of the high risk areas as it relates to crime. The youth club was launched at the patrol base which the police re-commissioned in August 2014 and is now being used by the Community Policing Group and the Police.

The launching of the club was attended by thirty young people who were given sporting gears as a means of keeping them occupied. Additionally, a donation of sports and school supplies were donated to the ‘Save R Kids’ Children’s’ Home at Cornelia Ida along with the Pharphu Saharan Children Home.

Meanwhile, Ian Amsterdam concluded his community related activities as ‘D’ Division Commander ahead of assuming the post of Traffic Chief.

At the weekend, the commander witnessed the conclusion of the first ever Derrick Josiah Memorial Football Tournament which saw the Fruta Conquerors emerging as the winners of the competition and the rights to brag for one year.
