Police are investigating a fatal accident which occurred on the Beterverwagting (BV) Public Road about 23:20h Saturday night, involving motor car PRR 5263 driven by a 25-yr-old businessman of Good Hope, East Coast Demerara and a so far unidentified male pedal cyclist (deceased).
Reports are that the car was proceeding east along the northern side of the public road when the cyclist allegedly rode out from the northern side and turned east into the path of the car and collided with the left side front of the vehicle.
As a result of the impact, the cyclist received head injuries. He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation by the said driver but was pronounced dead on arrival. The body is presently at the Lyken’s Funeral Parlour awaiting to identified. The driver is in custody. He was tested and found not to be under the influence of alcohol.
