Riana Toney, 16, of the Anna Regina Secondary is  this year’s highest achiever at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examination, securing a whopping 19 Grade Ones.

Riana hails from Queenstown on the Essequibo Coast, Region Two.

Upon hearing the announcement that she was the country’s top performer, this young lady could not believe her achievement.

“I’m excited, overjoyed and shocked. It wasn’t something that I expected. I know that I completed all my SBAs (School Based Assessments), worked past papers, studied very hard in the night and went to all my lessons,” she said.

Aspiring to become a microbiologist, Riana plans to continue her studies.

She is also prepared for even more hardwork and sacrifices to achieve her dreams.

Regional Officials have already extended congratulations to Riana on her achievement and for making the region proud.
