A seaman of Crane, West Coast Demerara (WCD) was before the Wales Magistrate’s Court earlier today charged with assaulting his female neighbours.
41-year-old, Azad Mohamed of Crane Housing Scheme denied the allegation when he stood before Magistrate Rochelle Liverpool.
The charge against him alleged that he on December 18, 2017, at Crane, assaulted Babita Vishnu and Sabita Apiah to cause them actual bodily harm.
One of the Virtual Complainants (VC), reportedly unable to walk properly, limped into the courtroom as a result of an injury sustained from the alleged attack.
Police Prosecutor, Sergeant Campbell made an application for bail to be substantial, citing that the accused has no fixed place of abode and works in Suriname.
Magistrate Liverpool granted the accused $30,000 bail on each charge and ordered that he lodge his passport at the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station.
He was also ordered to stay at least 30 feet away from the VC’s until the completion of the matter.
Mohamed will make his next court appearance on January 25, 2018.
