[www.inewsguyana.com] – Over 50 children in the paediatric ward at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) were on Friday amazed by the visit from Santa Claus and several other cartoon characters, including SpongeBob, Dora, Mickey Mouse and Cinderella.
The children were all given presents by Santa and the cartoon characters, compliments of Courts Guyana.
Courts also donated a flat screen television, water dispenser, two double bond beds and two recliners for the ward.
The Company’s Public Relations Officer, Roberta Ferguson said that this has been an annual initiative by Courts and that the donated items will assist in making the children more comfortable during their stay in the hospital.
“…It is Christmas and a lot of children are away from their family and it is very sad, when families are getting together and sharing gifts, so we take pleasure to visit the hospital and let Santa share gifts.”
Meanwhile, Supervisor of the Paediatric ward, Denise Cumberbatch expressed her gratitude towards the furniture giant for the gesture.
“…When their parents are not around, they would cry but having a television around, that will keep them quiet for a while, and the water dispenser will provide hot and cold water for them while the beds will make them more comfortable.” [Extracted and modified from GINA]
