[www.inewsguyana.com] – A Corentyne family was severely beaten by armed bandits late last evening [Wednesday, July 09] after which they escaped with approximately $700,000 in cash and other valuables.
According one of the victims, Parbattie Bickram of Lot 54 Dr. Bush Dam Albion who lives with her two daughters, last evening at about 19:30 hours, three men armed with guns broke into their home and held the family at gun point demanding cash.
The woman said her uncle and her aunt, who are currently visiting from overseas on vacation were also attacked and robbed. Bickram said at the time of the incident, she was outside of her home relaxing in her hammock.
The woman’s two daughters were busy on their computers in their room when the incident occurred and upon hearing the noise, the younger one fled to safety while one of the bandits placed a gun to the other sister’s head demanding money.
After the men realized that the occupants of the house were not handing over any money, they started to search the house and found the cash.
Meanwhile the police were called in and are currently investigating the matter.
