[www.inewsguyana.com] – Investigators dealing with the murder of United States based businesswoman Samantha Benjamin whose dismembered body was discovered at the Annandale foreshore on March 26, are ensuring that they build a strong case against the accused, 22 – year – old Kevin Ramsawck.

Police sources close to the investigation told iNews that there are persons who are familiar with what occurred in the Middle Walk, Buxton house where the businesswoman was murdered.

As such, the police have secured state witnesses to testify against the accused during the trial.

The woman’s headless and limbless body was found at the Annandale/Buxton foreshore on March 26. Her head, hands and feet were later discovered in the same area. The suspect was arrested by police on March 31 at Benjamin’s house in Middle Walk, Buxton East Coast Demerara.

During interrogation, he reportedly told investigators that he was assisted in the gruesome act by two other men who are also from the community of Buxton, East Coast Demerara.

The 22 – year – old allegedly told investigators that robbery was the main motive behind the murder and decided to chop off the woman’s head, hands and feet in order to easily dispose of the body.

Police were also able to recover some of the valuables which belonged to Benjamin, including her laptop and mobile phone at a house in Bent Street, Werk – en – rust, Georgetown.

Benjamin was a clothes vendor, who plied her trade at the vendors arcade in Georgetown. According to villagers, the night before the woman’s dismembered body was found loud music was being played from the house while they heard what sounded like the screams of a woman.

A close friend of Benjamin, who identified himself as Dexter Philander told iNews that the woman has a teenage daughter and that her husband lived in the United States.

iNews understands that Benjamin is a frequent visitor of the US but has been in Guyana since December 2014. The suspect lived with her in the house after he was employed by the family to rear chickens in the yard.
