[www.inewsguyana.com] – At a joint press conference with the Ministries of Tourism and Foreign Affairs, stakeholders in the local tourism industry today announced the commencement of services by COPA Airlines to local consumers.
The airline will commence flights on July 11 of this year and will fly on Tuesdays and Fridays from Guyana into Panama. Sales Manager of COPA Guillermo Gomez said this service will connect Guyana to 68 destinations in 30 countries. And this he opined will not only boost tourism but also foster commerce and social exchanges between Guyana and rest of the Americas.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Carolyn Rodriguez welcomed COPA Airlines to Guyana and said the governments of Panama and Guyana worked tirelessly to make this a reality within two years.
And one of the features of this new partnership will allow Guyanese to travel to panama without a visa for up to ninety days.
COPA Airlines and COPA Airlines Colombia are subsidiaries of COPA Holdings which is a leading Latin American provider of passengers and cargo services.
The airline has been credited with transforming the hub of the Americas during its more than 65 years of uninterrupted operations.
COPA operates one of the youngest and most modern fleets with 90 aircrafts in the industry.
