A Policeman on Tuesday appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly to answer to the charge of illegal possession of ammunition.
Jermaine Camel, who resides on the East Coast of Demerara, pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on June 24, 2016, Police ranks, acting upon information, conducted a search of Camel’s belongings at the Guyana Police Force Headquarters, Eve Leary and found ammunition.
In court on Tuesday, the prosecution pointed out only Camel has access to the cupboard where the ammunition was found.
Defence Attorney Mark Conway, however, told the Court that the ammunition that was found was not in the possession of Camel, but in a shared cupboard. The cupboard is located in a room with eight bunk beds, the lawyer said.
Attorney Conway requested bail for the defendant, but the prosecution objected.
Camel was remanded to prison. The case will continue on July 20.
