The Police Constable who was found intoxicated following an accident on the Stewartville Public Road, West Coast Demerara, last Friday evening, was earlier today (Tuesday) charged with driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI).
Satrohan Gowkarran, appeared before Magistrate Roshell Liverpool at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court, pleaded guilty and was fined $7,500. His driver’s licence was also endorsed.The investigation into the accident is still incomplete. The victim who was transferred to the GPHC is said to be in a stable condition, according to a Police statement.
