[www.inewsguyana.com] – A contract has been awarded to International Pharmaceutical Agency (Guy) Limited to supply and deliver items to the Forensic Laboratory.
According to the Home Affairs Ministry, the contract was awarded using the National Competitive Bidding Process. This supplier will deliver:
– Small Apparatus and Glassware (150 items) in the sum of $39,616,509.00. These items include beakers, test tubes, pipettes and storage containers.
– Consumable and Chemicals (248 items) in the sum $10,174,812.00. These items include chemicals, reagents, acids and solutions.
According to the Home Affairs Ministry, these items are needed to perform daily analysis, testing and sampling.
Additionally the supplier Pressy Enterprise of Cowan and Parade Streets, Kingston, Georgetown was awarded a contract in the sum of $15,024,000.00 for the procurement of photographic and forensic equipment for the Guyana Police Force.
In September, Subject Minister Clement Rohee revealed that the Guyana Police Force’s Forensic laboratory is nearing completion and should be in operation by the end of the year.
In April 2011, Government signed a contract valued $450M with Courtney Benn Contracting Services for the construction of the lab. The project is funded by the Inter American Development Bank in partnership with the Guyana Government, and is expected to greatly enhance the investigative capabilities of the Guyana Police Force. The ministry has already hired all the staff for the lab.
