A construction worker and his reputed wife were taken into police custody on Sunday after they were nabbed with assault rifle, ammunition and a large quantity of ganja.
Based on reports received, police acting on intelligence went to North Sophia, Greater Georgetown where they swooped down on a house and conducted a search that lasted for six hours.
During the search, a large sum of foreign and local currencies, an AK-47 assault rifle, a pistol, 63 live rounds of ammunition and more than 32 kilograms of ganja were discovered.
As a result, the construction worker and his reputed wife were arrested as police are making efforts to arrest a third person.
