[www.inewsguyana.com] – ‘A’ Division Commander Senior Superintendent Clifton Hicken donated football gears to the Rosemary Lane community known as the ‘Tiger Bay football team,’ today, Saturday May 17.
The donation was part of the preparation for the launching of the Impact Tiger Bay project. At the time of the donation, the entire community of Tiger Bay along with representatives from the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports, Ministry of Human Services and Social Security and senior officers were all present.
The Captain of the Tiger Bay team thanked the Police Force for the donations, as he noted that the team was the first ever in history to win the ‘Guinness Greatness of the street football tournament’.
The first official match in years will be played on Wednesday, May 21 against the Police Sports Club at Eve Leary ground.
Commander Hicken said that the Force will continue to support the community not only educationally but also with sporting activities.
He recalled that years ago, Tiger Bay was one of the best Football team in Guyana and that he will make sure the community center in renovated so that more sporting events can be added to the agenda.
