Two men were earlier today charged with robbery when they appeared before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Tyrone Escort, a 23-year-old Juice Vendor of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown and 26-year-old Colwyn Harding of 1A Laing Avenue, Georgetown, both pled not guilty to the charge which stated that on November 14 2016, at Bar Street, Kitty, they violently robbed Jamell Williams of a Samsung cell phone, one pocket knife and $15,000.
The prosecution did not reveal the facts, however, both men were remanded to prison and will return on November 24 2016.
Harding, who is no stranger to the court system, rose of infamy in 2013, when he claimed that he was allegedly assaulted and baton raped by two Police Constables, Devin Singh and Roselle Tilbury-Douglas, while he was incarcerated.
Harding’s claim was that the two Police Constables had beaten him during his detainment until he lost consciousness.
After regaining consciousness he had begun to complain that he felt pain and bleeding from his anus.
The two Police Constables who were jointly charged in 2013 for assaulting Colwyn Harding. Various doctors who examined Harding had reported that they did not see any signs of sexual abuse to support Harding’s allegations.
They noted that they observed the man to be suffering from an intestinal infection and condition. The case was thrown out in March of this year, after Magistrate Leron Daly declared that there was not enough evidence to support his claims.
