[www.inewsguyana.com] – Ranfred Williams of 268 Coldigen, East Coast Demerara was today (Thursday, June 26), placed on $300,000 bail by Magistrate Ann McLennan on a fraudulent convergent charge.
The 25-year-old defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence which alleged that on March 24 at Georgetown, being solely entrusted with various gadgets together valued $560,000 to deliver to Sigmon Husman he converted the items to his own use and benefit.
Williams’s Attorney requested that he be admitted to bail in a reasonable sum. He said his client has no prior conviction and has proof that Williams paid for the items.
The lawyer said that the defendant usually conducts similar business and pays on a weekly or monthly basis.
Police Prosecutor Dinero Jones did not object to bail but asked that he post a substantial amount of bail. Jones said the Prosecution facts differ and he is unaware of any payment that was made to the virtual complainant (VC).
The Prosecutor said the defendant had to take the item to another costumer but did not. Jones said he was instructed that Williams has a similar pending matter in another Court.
Williams will return to Court on July 21 for statements.
