[www.inewsguyana.com] – A search conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department in the wee hours this morning (Thursday, January 15) resulted in the arrest of a couple from Schoonard, West Bank Demerara after CID Officers found an unlicensed .38 Taurus Pistol hidden in their wardrobe.
iNews understands that the CID acted on information received and conducted the spontaneous raid. Police sources revealed that the man admitted that the unlicensed weapon belongs to him and that he kept it for his personal protection.
CID ranks were also able to also recover 33 rounds of ammunition in the couple’s home. Meanwhile, searches in several other villages in that area and in Georgetown resulted in the arrest of several persons for being in possession of Marijuana.
A total of ten persons were arrested in the raids which targeted Kitty, Ruimveldt, Lamaha Street and the West Bank of Demerara. [Leroy Smith]
