Police are currently investigating the murder and robbery of a Chinese businessman, 44-year-old Liyan Jiang, whose tied up body was found with multiple marks of violence on Thursday night in his Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo home that also houses his eating establishment.
This publication was informed that the man’s wife who resides on the East Bank of Demerara and operates another eating establishment had enlisted the help of a colleague to find word of her husband after calls to his cellphone went unanswered.
The colleague who was on the West Coast at the time dropped in to check on the Jiang at his restaurant in Tuschen.
Not receiving a feedback from his calls and seeing the placed ransacked the colleague summoned the police, who upon searching the premises, found the businessman dead.
It is unclear at this point in time what was stolen from the premises.
A report was subsequently lodged with the police and the man’s body was taken to a hospital.
Police are yet to apprehend any suspect/s involved in Jiang’s murder. He leaves to mourn his wife and two young boys.
