A Chinese businessman and his reputed wife are now traumatised after being terrorised by two gun-men who entered their home late last night shooting the man to his foot before escaping with foreign currency.
The man who owns a business, Huang Jian, and his reputed wife Jheng Shukang were in their Industry, East Coast Demerara (ECD) home around 22:45hrs yesterday when the armed bandits broke into their house.
INews understands that the two perpetrators held the couple at gun-point and snatched a bag from them which is said to contain US$600. However, to ensure that they made good their escape without any difficulties one of the bandits shot Jian to his left foot.
According to a source, he heard a scream late last night coming from the couple’s house and then heard some loud noises. Subsequently he heard a gunshot.
“The two men walked out calmly through the gate and went away. Then the police came like 20 minutes later but by then it was too late…,” the source added. The Chinese man was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation into the incident.
