Chief Fire Officer, Mr. Marlon Gentle, concluded a visit to the Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service and Seven Park Regional Training Centre in the United Kingdom where he met his counterpart and got a first-hand look at the operations of the Service in that country.

The Guyana Fire Service has developed a good relationship with the Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service and Seven Park Regional Training Centre and has benefitted from this partnership through the skills, expertise and training which this Centre has provided through Senior Training Officer Kevin Adcock.
Renaming of the GFS to the Guyana Fire and Rescue Service has been a feature of the 2013 National Budget in the ongoing transformation and modernisation effort. A move to the Parliament on June 13 for enactment was however, rejected by the political opposition as they continue their malicious campaign against the subject minister since their attempts to have him ousted failed.
