A 41-year-old labourer of New Road village on the Essequibo Coast has tragically ended his life after enduring three years of domestic problems. Dead is Mohan (only name given) a father of four.
He ingested a quantity of poisonous substance on July 29 around 17:30h and succumbed on July 30 at the Charity hospital.
Information revealed that the deceased and his wife had constant arguments and on several occasions she would threatened to leave him. However, on July 29 he went drinking with a few friends and became intoxicated. When he reached home he and his wife had a heated argument when the situation got ‘out of hand’. The father reportedly ventured to the back and ingested a quantity of weedicide.
Ten minutes later, the wife reportedly went to the back of the house and discovered him vomiting a greenish substance and when she inspected the area she observed a ‘poison bottle’ a few feet away from him. He was immediately rushed to the Charity hospital where he was admitted as a patient and later succumbed. His body had no marks of violence. He is currently at the Suddie mortuary awaiting a post mortem.
