[www.inewsguyana.com] – Nineteen-year-old Christine Calder of Garnett Street Campbellville, Georgetown was today charged with assault and placed placed on $20,000 bail pending a probation report and sentencing.
Calder, who is a costumer representative of Qualfon Inc, pleaded guilty to the charge, which stated that on July 20 at the Georgetown Seawall, she unlawfully assaulted Shaunett Herod, causing her actual bodily harm.
Police Prosecutor, Michael Grant, told the Court that the two women had a misunderstanding and the defendant became annoyed and punched Herod in the face.
According to the Prosecution, the victim received several wounds from a glass to her back and face. The matter was reported and the victim was examined by a doctor at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPH).
Calder told the Court that she was chilling on the Seawall when she observed Herod speaking to her [Christine] ex – boyfriend. Calder alleged that Herod showed her certain signs which triggered the misunderstanding.
Calder will return to Court on September 19 for sentencing.
