The tragic and horrific mass shooting in Orlando, Florida that resulted in 50 dead and 53 injured has left thousands of persons throughout the world deeply saddened and upset at the actions of the gunman who cold-bloodedly murdered and hurt those persons inside of the ‘Pulse night club’.
“Deep shock and horror” are some of the words being used by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in expressing its reaction and feelings towards this inhumane act which has been described as the worst mass shooting in American history.
CARICOM Secretary-General, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, in a message on behalf of regional body made it clear that there is no form of justification for the slaughtering of defenseless people.
According to him, no grounds based on race, religion or lifestyle can justify the murdering of those 49 individuals inside of the night club or the injuring of the 53 persons who were hurt during the shooting.
Ambassador LaRocque stated that CARICOM stands with the Government and People of the United States as they mourn the victims of this heinous attack.
“CARICOM stands with the Government and People of the United States of America as they mourn the victims of this latest heinous attack. The Community extends its deepest sympathy to the families who lost their loved ones and wish a speedy and full recovery to those wounded in the attack,” the CARICOM Secretary-General stated.
