A man was earlier today further remanded to prison when he appeared before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, for motor vehicular theft.
A tearful 33-year-old Micheal Baptiste is facing a charge which stated that on August 5, 2016 at Sheriff Street, Georgetown, he, in the company of another man stole one Toyota primo motorcar and transmission parts, totaling $5M property of Mahendra Ramcharran.
While his attorney made another unsuccessful bail application, the prosecution objected based on the nature of the offence and the total cost.
It was also noted that the defendant will be afforded a speedy trial.
Baptiste is expected to return to court on November 1, 2016. (Ramona Luthi)
