A candlelight vigil was held last evening in observance of the one year anniversary for those protesters who were shot and killed during the Linden protest.
Today, July 18, marks one year, since Shemroy Boyeau, Ron Sommerset and Allan Lewis, were shot dead on the Mackenzie-Wismar Bridge. The vigil was held under the theme, “Black and White.”
As activities for the event continue, there will be the laying of floral wreaths by family members of the slain trio at their Bamia, Linden-Soesdyke Highway gravesite later today.
That will be followed by a commemoration programme at the Mackenzie-Wismar Bridge in the evening.
Lindeners took to the streets last year, protesting over a proposed electricity tariff increase in the community. The protest escalated, during which the three protesters were shot dead
