Budget 2024: $4.1 billion to support UG; $4 billion for GOAL

Finance Minister Dr Ashni Singh has announced that $4.1 billion has been budgeted to support the operations of the University of Guyana (UG) this year.

At UG, he revealed that in 2024, new programmes will be offered in such areas as food security, cyber security, engineering technologies, biopharma, marine studies, earth and climate sciences, and sports medicine.

Meanwhile, $4 billion will be allocated for the Guyana Online Academy of Learning (GOAL) to support new and continuing students.

This year, he said GOAL will introduce 160 new programmes in general and vocational, bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
